I'm leavin' on a jet plane...don't actually know when I'll be boarding...

The movers come tomorrow! After that we'll have our mostly-empty house (no closing date yet), and the things we haven't yet put in storage. But the computers will be dismantled, so we'll be mooching time online from friends and the local library until we leave. Funny that I've been back in Ann Arbor for three years and never did get a library card. See what a poseur librarian I am?

Anyway, we have our packing date but no actual flight date yet. I assume that will happen today? Granted, I have assumed a lot of things over the past two months that haven't quite worked the way I thought they would.

Anyway, my next post might be from the Netherlands. Wish us luck!

My life as a bum

I won't go into all the truly boring details, but the important data points, as Mr. Baroness would call them, are:

1. We are now officially jobless (in a good way)!
2. We are now officially homeless (in a really good way)!

We wrapped up our jobs last week and accepted an offer on the house two days ago. Woo hoo!

We also talked to the Dutch this morning. They've picked a moving company, so now we get to schedule a packing/shipping date and a flying date. They (apparently) are FINALLY getting the appropriate paperwork from the parent organization to apply for our work permits; those will take an additional two to three weeks to come through. But as long as they're willing to pay for shipping and plane tickets, we're pretty sure the work permits will be taken care of. And we can spend a week or two getting settled and playing tourists.

It's finally happening! I guess we'd better get cracking on learning Dutch!
